FAQ...

What requirements are there to produce the show?
All you need is a theater-producing organization and a venue. Kait and Brian don’t restrict performances based on geography and the scrappier you are, the more Kait and Brian love you, or at least identify with you.

When can we start?
Now. Fill out your application and submit it online. Once your application is reviewed, Brian and Kait will be in touch to confirm your dates and venue information, answer questions and start the ball rolling on your concert.

What if I'm not a producer or director, how can I be involved?
So glad you asked. Click on "party promoters" on the left menu.

Is this a musical or a song cycle?
If it’s either, it’s a song cycle but it’s more of a concert. PARTY WORTH CRASHING is designed to have banter, an MC, and a more relaxed feel than a song cycle or musical. There is no book, plot, or strong thematic idea that shifts over the course of it but because of that, you get to have so much more freedom to express your group’s taste by your choice of song and style of evening.

How much will this cost to produce?
There is a one-time rental fee for every production. There is also a fee for each performance, based on the size of the theatre, ticket prices, etc. We're committed to making this a reality for as many organizations as possible so PARTY WORTH CRASHING is significantly cheaper than a traditional musical from a traditional licensing house.

How many performers do I need?
The real question is “How many performers do you want?”, because you can make this cast as big or as small as you want. But to answer your question, a minimum of two performers.

How many musicians do I need?
Orchestrations are currently available for up to four musicians (piano, bass, drums, cello). But the real question is “How many musicians do you want?”. You definitely need a pianist or keyboardist. Beyond that, we have orchestrations prepared for 2 unamplified musicans (piano, cello), a basic rhythm section (piano, bass, drums), and our preferred orchestrations: piano, bass, drums, cello. We're open to exploring the idea of larger configurations in the future.

Will Kait and Brian really come visit?
Yes. They will. For a fee, plus all transportation and boarding, Kait and Brian will come to your venue and spend the day with your theater group. That could include all sorts of things, including teaching a master class, attending a donor party, performing a song at the concert. It’s your party – so Kait and Brian will do whatever you’re interested – within reason. Brian refuses to wear a tux, and Kait will not play video games. Not even for a black-tie Wii gala.

How does the process work?
Once you fill out and submit your application, Brian and Kait will be in touch to confirm your dates and venue information, answer questions, and issue an e-contract and pay-pal invoice. After receipt of that payment, you’ll receive access to the PARTY VIP Lounge (the Party Worth Crashing Official community site). There you’ll have everything you’ll need to start planning your concert.

What materials will I have access to on the community website?
So much! Alternate songs and transpositions, the logo (in color and in black and white), program information (what must be included, plus additional information that you might want to include), networking capabilities with other theaters who are also doing PARTY WORTH CRASHING and direct contact with the authors.
